CVE-2018-11235 | 5 Canonical, Debian, Git-scm and 2 more | 9 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Git and 6 more | 2024-11-21 | 6.8 MEDIUM | 7.8 HIGH |
In Git before 2.13.7, 2.14.x before 2.14.4, 2.15.x before 2.15.2, 2.16.x before 2.16.4, and 2.17.x before 2.17.1, remote code execution can occur. With a crafted .gitmodules file, a malicious project can execute an arbitrary script on a machine that runs "git clone --recurse-submodules" because submodule "names" are obtained from this file, and then appended to $GIT_DIR/modules, leading to directory traversal with "../" in a name. Finally, post-checkout hooks from a submodule are executed, bypassing the intended design in which hooks are not obtained from a remote server.
CVE-2018-11233 | 2 Canonical, Git-scm | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Git | 2024-11-21 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
In Git before 2.13.7, 2.14.x before 2.14.4, 2.15.x before 2.15.2, 2.16.x before 2.16.4, and 2.17.x before 2.17.1, code to sanity-check pathnames on NTFS can result in reading out-of-bounds memory.
CVE-2018-1000021 | 1 Git-scm | 1 Git | 2024-11-21 | 6.8 MEDIUM | 5.0 MEDIUM |
GIT version 2.15.1 and earlier contains a Input Validation Error vulnerability in Client that can result in problems including messing up terminal configuration to RCE. This attack appear to be exploitable via The user must interact with a malicious git server, (or have their traffic modified in a MITM attack).
CVE-2017-15298 | 2 Canonical, Git-scm | 2 Ubuntu Linux, Git | 2024-11-21 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.5 MEDIUM |
Git through 2.14.2 mishandles layers of tree objects, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via a crafted repository, aka a Git bomb. This can also have an impact of disk consumption; however, an affected process typically would not survive its attempt to build the data structure in memory before writing to disk.
CVE-2017-14867 | 2 Debian, Git-scm | 2 Debian Linux, Git | 2024-11-21 | 9.0 HIGH | 8.8 HIGH |
Git before 2.10.5, 2.11.x before 2.11.4, 2.12.x before 2.12.5, 2.13.x before 2.13.6, and 2.14.x before 2.14.2 uses unsafe Perl scripts to support subcommands such as cvsserver, which allows attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands via shell metacharacters in a module name. The vulnerable code is reachable via git-shell even without CVS support.
CVE-2017-1000117 | 1 Git-scm | 1 Git | 2024-11-21 | 6.8 MEDIUM | 8.8 HIGH |
A malicious third-party can give a crafted "ssh://..." URL to an unsuspecting victim, and an attempt to visit the URL can result in any program that exists on the victim's machine being executed. Such a URL could be placed in the .gitmodules file of a malicious project, and an unsuspecting victim could be tricked into running "git clone --recurse-submodules" to trigger the vulnerability.
CVE-2016-2324 | 3 Git-scm, Opensuse, Suse | 8 Git, Leap, Opensuse and 5 more | 2024-11-21 | 10.0 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
Integer overflow in Git before 2.7.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a (1) long filename or (2) many nested trees, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2016-2315 | 3 Git-scm, Opensuse, Suse | 8 Git, Leap, Opensuse and 5 more | 2024-11-21 | 10.0 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
revision.c in git before 2.7.4 uses an incorrect integer data type, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a (1) long filename or (2) many nested trees, leading to a heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2014-9938 | 1 Git-scm | 1 Git | 2024-11-21 | 6.8 MEDIUM | 8.8 HIGH |
contrib/completion/git-prompt.sh in Git before 1.9.3 does not sanitize branch names in the PS1 variable, allowing a malicious repository to cause code execution.
CVE-2014-9390 | 6 Apple, Eclipse, Git-scm and 3 more | 8 Mac Os X, Xcode, Egit and 5 more | 2024-11-21 | 7.5 HIGH | 9.8 CRITICAL |
Git before 1.8.5.6, 1.9.x before 1.9.5, 2.0.x before 2.0.5, 2.1.x before 2.1.4, and 2.2.x before 2.2.1 on Windows and OS X; Mercurial before 3.2.3 on Windows and OS X; Apple Xcode before 6.2 beta 3; mine all versions before 08-12-2014; libgit2 all versions up to 0.21.2; Egit all versions before 08-12-2014; and JGit all versions before 08-12-2014 allow remote Git servers to execute arbitrary commands via a tree containing a crafted .git/config file with (1) an ignorable Unicode codepoint, (2) a git~1/config representation, or (3) mixed case that is improperly handled on a case-insensitive filesystem.
CVE-2013-0308 | 1 Git-scm | 1 Git | 2024-11-21 | 4.3 MEDIUM | N/A |
The imap-send command in GIT before 1.8.1.4 does not verify that the server hostname matches a domain name in the subject's Common Name (CN) or subjectAltName field of the X.509 certificate, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof SSL servers via an arbitrary valid certificate.
CVE-2010-3906 | 2 Git, Git-scm | 2 Git, Git | 2024-11-21 | 4.3 MEDIUM | N/A |
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Gitweb 1.7.3.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) f and (2) fp parameters.
CVE-2010-2542 | 1 Git-scm | 1 Git | 2024-11-21 | 7.5 HIGH | N/A |
Stack-based buffer overflow in the is_git_directory function in setup.c in Git before 1.7.2.1 allows local users to gain privileges via a long gitdir: field in a .git file in a working copy.
CVE-2008-5516 | 3 Git, Git-scm, Rpath | 3 Git, Git, Linux | 2024-11-21 | 7.5 HIGH | N/A |
The web interface in git (gitweb) 1.5.x before 1.5.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters related to git_search.
CVE-2023-29007 | 2 Fedoraproject, Git-scm | 2 Fedora, Git | 2024-06-26 | N/A | 7.8 HIGH |
Git is a revision control system. Prior to versions 2.30.9, 2.31.8, 2.32.7, 2.33.8, 2.34.8, 2.35.8, 2.36.6, 2.37.7, 2.38.5, 2.39.3, and 2.40.1, a specially crafted `.gitmodules` file with submodule URLs that are longer than 1024 characters can used to exploit a bug in `config.c::git_config_copy_or_rename_section_in_file()`. This bug can be used to inject arbitrary configuration into a user's `$GIT_DIR/config` when attempting to remove the configuration section associated with that submodule. When the attacker injects configuration values which specify executables to run (such as `core.pager`, `core.editor`, `core.sshCommand`, etc.) this can lead to a remote code execution. A fix A fix is available in versions 2.30.9, 2.31.8, 2.32.7, 2.33.8, 2.34.8, 2.35.8, 2.36.6, 2.37.7, 2.38.5, 2.39.3, and 2.40.1. As a workaround, avoid running `git submodule deinit` on untrusted repositories or without prior inspection of any submodule sections in `$GIT_DIR/config`.
CVE-2023-25652 | 2 Fedoraproject, Git-scm | 2 Fedora, Git | 2024-06-26 | N/A | 7.5 HIGH |
Git is a revision control system. Prior to versions 2.30.9, 2.31.8, 2.32.7, 2.33.8, 2.34.8, 2.35.8, 2.36.6, 2.37.7, 2.38.5, 2.39.3, and 2.40.1, by feeding specially crafted input to `git apply --reject`, a path outside the working tree can be overwritten with partially controlled contents (corresponding to the rejected hunk(s) from the given patch). A fix is available in versions 2.30.9, 2.31.8, 2.32.7, 2.33.8, 2.34.8, 2.35.8, 2.36.6, 2.37.7, 2.38.5, 2.39.3, and 2.40.1. As a workaround, avoid using `git apply` with `--reject` when applying patches from an untrusted source. Use `git apply --stat` to inspect a patch before applying; avoid applying one that create a conflict where a link corresponding to the `*.rej` file exists. |
